#01 Tall Vase

US$54.23

A tall slender smoked fired Stoneware Obvara piece. A difficult technique but so worth it as the results are spectacular. When I pulled this piece from the smoke sagger, it immediately reminded me of the Nguni cattle found in Southern Africa. Nguni cattle are revered in Southern Africa and known for their fertility and resistance to diseases. Traditionally, the hides where used to cover a war-shield, that was not only used for protection, but played a rich symbolic role in tribal life. This should was also a warrior’s coat of arms. This piece carries the distinction and proud energy of the Sanga-Nguni cattle.

Stoneware Smoked Obvara fired.

Unglazed surface sealed with Elements Air to protect the unique unglazed surface  An industrial strength nano-technology coating.

Elements Air is a natural food safe solution with anti-bacterial properties for use on any unglazed fired ceramic surface. Unlike a varnish, it does not form a film on the treated surface, but rather penetrates and saturates the ceramic material. It is a matt application and once dry forms a completely invisible layer on the surface. It is highly water repellant, oil and fat repellent and anti-bacterial. It is also alkali, acid , alcohol and chemical restistant, and has a high UV resistance as well. Please see the FAQ and T&C’s for product information.
